40-year belated Reunion plans in progress!

* What an amazing 30-year Reunion! *

To all those who attended and made this a weekend to remember,

THANK YOU!!!

PLEASE... Keep us informed with your current address, phone, and e-mail!

Mr. Bill Axelrod (EBHS '62), one of our dearest teachers, (taught Social Studies, New Jersey History, etc.) was thrilled to be with us at the reunion, and was a big hit! Thank you to Bill and Mary Pat for attending!

My deepest appreciation to Frank Russo, who provided the music and DJ equipment! Frank worked tirelessly and spent hours of preparation so we would have quality, non-distracting music throughout the evening. We owe him a debt of gratitude. Our thanks and respect to Frank!

My sincere thanks to Patty McCarthy-Varga & Cheryl McDonald-Scoles, the "Calling Committee". They were both extremely helpful in contacting so many members of the class to inform them about the reunion! Thank you both!!!

Thanks to Les Szukics, Assistant Principal of EBHS, for keeping us informed regarding the football game, the schedule changes and the continuing saga of the football field renovation which lead to changing the dates for Homecoming. Most importantly, he was key in assisting us to arrange the tour of EBHS for the Sunday Brunch on Reunion Weekend. Our sincere appreciation!

Best Regards,
Dave

My sincere thanks to Jim Clark (EBHS '81) and the East Brunswick Chateau! I recommend Jim and the East Brunswick Chateau to any group seeking to have a quality Reunion at a wonderful venue. It could not have been better! The food was delicious, the room was luxurious and comfortable. He worked closely with the Reunion Committee and was present personally to make sure it all went right.

Our reunion weekend ended perfectly with "Jazz Man", a tribute concert to "Mr. D.", Mr. Mario "Chic" DeCarolis, an outstanding musician, teacher, and friend, as well as an exemplary human being...

"Music is Love in Search of a Word"

After the Sunday Brunch, the "Jazz Man" benefit concert was amazing! I am sorry for anyone who missed it. It was supposed to be from 3-5pm, and ended up lasting almost 4 hours, they were fantastic! The good news is that you can buy a DVD or a CD of the concert, I will provide the details below. Mr. DeCarolis served as director of the EBHS high school concert band, marching band, and jazz band (The Indigos) until his retirement in 1987. The benefit concert will help fund a music scholarship in Mr. D's name. It truly was a perfect way to finish up a great "Reunion Weekend"! Representing the EBHS Class of '77: Brian Mendelsohn (electric bass), Rick Pressler (electric guitar), Rich Parr (trumpet), and Diane White-Eves (piano) were all incredible! It was awesome to see previous EBHS band members of all years playing at the concert, including Dr. Andy Boyarsky (trumpet) and Dr. Blase Toto (sax). Get the video by calling videographer Patrick Allocca at:

Ghee Media www.gheemedia.com

(732) 254-3296

The DVD is $25, well worth it!

There is also an audio CD of the concert available for $15.

You can send a $25 check for the "Jazz Man" DVD to:

Patrick Allocca ~ 22 Gladstone Drive ~ East Brunswick, NJ 08816

You can call Yvonne DeCarolis (EBHS '70) at (609) 275-8474 with any comments or questions about future concerts!

Mrs. D., Susan, Yvonne, and Dave Z. at the diner after the concert. Many people joined Yvonne at the Colonial Diner after the concert, including Steve Kaplan, Brian & Mark Mendelsohn, Rick Pressler & his wife, Rich Parr & his family, Ralph Parillo (EBHS '78). and so many others! It was a "magical" concert, and the love for Mr. D. was so clearly evident from the hundreds of people who attended and participated in this concert. Hats off to Yvonne! It was an honor to join Yvonne & the DeCarolis family after the concert. These are some of the nicest people I know.

East Brunswick High School has a comprehensive curriculum geared to meet the needs of  2300+ students in grades 10-12 , and to prepare students for the twenty-first century.  The curriculum is evaluated through an ongoing process to insure that students are given the best possible opportunity to compete on the national level.

East Brunswick High School, since 1958, has been a leader in secondary education.  It is a place where many warm memories continue to reside for thousands of alumni!  The first graduating class was the Class of '62. East Brunswick High School has been designated as a School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education.   In the April 1996 edition of Redbook magazine, East Brunswick High School was named as the best high school in the state of New Jersey.   In 1997 the New Jersey Department of Education named East Brunswick High School as a Star School.   In 1999 the Star Ledger named our school as one of the schools that colleges recognize as having the best prepared students. The 2004 Middle States Accreditation team, in their evaluation report stated "East Brunswick High School is without a doubt one of the finest high schools in the nation!"

The mean SAT score for the class of 2006 was 1128 (1671 with writing).  Last spring, EBHS students took 874 A.P. exams with 92% receiving a passing grade of 3 or higher. Approximately 98% of our students go on to post secondary education with 77% going on to four year institutions of higher education. In addition, seniors are enrolled in (900+ seats) college courses at the high school offered through Middlesex County College.

The school is now part of the district technology plan; it is the center of a private fiber gigabit network routing voice, video, and data to all 12 district buildings. Throughout the district there are approximately 5,000 network drops. Each one of those connections allows high speed connectivity to all networked services and a T3 connection to the Internet. The high school features over 600 computers that are available to the students and staff.

East Brunswick High School is a school that excels in all areas of student life.  Over 75% of students at EBHS participate in at least one club, activity, or on an athletic team. EBHS students have been successful in and out of the classroom earning State and National acclaim!
